Can I take out separate Building and Content policies?

You can take out buildings and contents policies separately if you wish, simply request the cover provided on the quotation page. However, a discount is available if you buy a combined buildings and contents cover.

What does Buildings Insurance cover?

This is the cover you need to protect the structure of your home, and permanent fixtures such as kitchen units and bathroom suites, against fire, lightning, explosions, earthquakes, smoke, riots, thefts, subsidence, storms and floods. For an additional premium you can also include accidental damage cover as an optional extension.

We've also included a number of extras, so if your home is damaged by something covered by your policy, we'll cover you for additional expenses like alternative accommodation for you and your family while your home is repaired.

What does Contents Insurance cover?

This is the cover you need to protect your moveable furniture and fittings i.e. sofas, curtains, beds, rugs and also aerials and satellite dishes, against loss or damage from fire, lightning, explosions, earthquakes, smoke, riots, theft, subsidence, storms and floods.

Although your home audio and television are covered automatically for accidental damage cover, you can pay an additional premium to increase your New-for-Old cover to Accidental Damage for the rest of your contents. Only cloths and linen are not covered on a New-for-Old basis.

You are also covered for the contents of your garage/outbuildings, providing the buildings are locked, please see policy wording for limits and restrictions.

What is Accidental Damage cover?

If you put your foot through the ceiling when you're in the loft, the Accidental Damage part of your policy would cover this. If you accidentally dropped a tin of paint on your sofa whilst decorating, the Accidental Damage part of your contents would ensure this was resolved. This cover is offered as an optional extension for an additional premium.

Are Pedal Cycles covered under Contents?

If the bicycle is stolen from your home, (including your garage/outbuilding) this is covered. However, if the bicycle is stolen while away from your home, it will only be covered if you have selected Personal Items section.

Are my contents covered outside the home of if I take them on holiday with me?

Your contents insurance covers items that are temporarily away from home but in another building, like your office. You'll need to take out Personal Items cover for items such as your mobile phone, lap top, pedal cycles, jewellery, camera and sports equipment to make sure they're protected while you are carrying them around with you.

What is Personal Items cover?

If you add this to your contents cover, it gives you extra protection for your portable possessions, such as pedal cycles, jewellery, camera, mobile phone and laptop, when they are outside of your home, both in Britain and abroad for the limit in your policy documents.

What is Family Legal Protection?

For a small additional premium, if you need legal advice you'll have access to our team of experts. You can talk through any private legal issues with them in confidence and, if you have a case for claiming for something like faulty goods, bodily injury or employments disputes. The policy will pay up to £50,000 of your legal costs.

What must I do if the circumstances change during the period of insurance?

You must tell us as soon as possible about any changes in the information you have give us, including the sums insured, and about any other facts we should take into account when providing you with insurance. We may then re-asses your cover and premium. If you don't tell us about any relevant changes , we may reject.

How do I get an Insurance quote?

Simply complete the online application form accessed from the Home Page or 'Get a Quote ' tab. We will provide you with a quotation based on the information that you have provided, we will then send you an email confirming the quotation, along with you unique reference number. The quotation saves automatically.

Can I have immediate cover?

Yes. Cover is provided once payment details have been taken and processed and starts from the start date you have entered. We will confirm receipt of your purchase by sending an e-mail to you. This email will be evidence of our receipt of your details and confirmation of any action taken. We cannot take responsibility for not carrying out instructions unless confirmed to you.

You can pay using your credit, debit or switch card or you may prefer to pay over 10 months using our flexible direct debit plan.
